Foo Fighters - Led Zepplin Join Foo Fighters On Stage At Wembley
There had been rumours flying around for most of the last week and they proved true as members of Led Zepplin joined the Foo Fighters on stage for a surprise encore at the band's second night at Wembley stadium yesterday.
Guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones teamed up with Dave Grohl and his band for Zeppelin classics Rock and Roll and Ramble On.
Singer Robert Plant was busy on solo duties in America but the occasion still marked the first appearnce of Led Zepplin since the band played a one-off gig in December 2007.
It also came eight months after Queen joined Foo Fighters onstage in London.
Introducing the pair onstage Grohl said: "Tonight playing here at Wembley Stadium is an honour and if we didn't take advantage of this opportunity we'd be crazy.
He went on: "We knew from the beginning this wasn't going to be another outdoor show, we have been planning this for six months so we would like to welcome Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones onstage."
Grohl swapped drumming duties with Taylor Hawkins who sang vocals on Rock And Roll for Zeppelin's first appearance since their London 02 Arena gig in December 2007.
Grohl then swapped places with Hawkins for a crowd pleasing rendition of Ramble On.
Earlier in the night Grohl hinted that the band had something special planned when he told the crowd: "We are going to do something special tonight that we have never done before.
"Tonight this will be the show we are talking about for the next 20 years."
It was clearly an emotional moment for Grohl who told his fans "Welcome to the greatest f**king day day of my life".

Juno star drops out of Rami horror movie
The 'Juno' star had agreed to play the lead role in the film, however scheduling conflicts have now forced her to withdraw.
Shooting was due to get underway on March 17 in a bid to wrap before the possible Screen Actors Guild strike on June 30, but was then delayed.
However, the new date clashed with Page's forthcoming roles in psychological thriller 'Peacock' and Drew Barrymore's directorial debut 'Whip It!'
A statement from producers Ghost House Pictures and financier Mandate Pictures, read: "We were racing to start production so that we could accommodate Ellen's schedule.
"But like so many other productions trying to start before the potential SAG strike date, this one needed more time and we had to push back the start of production."
